Portfolio
A space to display my works as a copywriter and product reviewer.
I spent quite a bit of time in the babywearing world, surrounding myself and my son with baby carriers made of some of the most delightful woven fabrics. I created lifestyle and parenting blog also named Nerdy Black Mom, where alongside sharing poetry and parenting related thoughts, I reviewed carriers from several small baby carrier companies. I also was lucky enough share my writing talent with Apple Blossom Wovens writing product descriptions for two of their colorways. These experiences gave me a chance to hone my skills in describing the look, texture, and wrapping qualities of different types of fabrics to a vast audience wishing to buy a baby carrier online.
Product Descriptions for Apple Blossom Wovens
“This last installation in the Journey series takes the Blue Ridge Mountain inspired warp and blankets it in a gentle lavender mist. Journey’s deep oranges and blues are softened by a light purple weft, creating bands of sweet pastel blues, purples, yellows, and pinks. The colors envelope you in a hazy early morning sunrise in the hours just before the fog has lifted.”
“A solid black weft intertwines with agate’s black to white gradient warp, creating a depth that can only be found within the facets of a black agate. As you draw your eye along the gradient, the colors begin as a deep onyx with flecks of gray and fade to a shimmering crystalline heather that contains only hints of the black hidden within its depths.”
Baby Carrier Reviews
“Some wraps are classic. Some elegant. Some scream glam while others invoke the feeling of your favorite fandom. Meanwhile, MSK Royal ignites the imagination. The color gradient of the warp perfectly recreates the colors of the sky at midnight, with a hint of purple at the horizon for good measure. The kaleidoscope weave pattern then takes this wrap’s beauty to another level. The intricate and ever-changing pattern of the royal blue across the weft creates the feeling of being in a nebula as new stars are being created. The streaks of white created by the “floats” in the weave become the streaks of starlight as you approach light speed in your starship of choice.”

“Surf’s Up is a feast for the senses. The little details on this wrap’s weave are phenomenal, and make you want to just sit and stare at it from all angles to discover the intricacies of the design. Deep teal and light blue diamonds dance across an ecru background to create the feeling of the sun glistening off the waves out at sea, or that feeling of opening your eyes underwater to watch the world through ocean-colored glasses.”
